So a former restaurateur that I recently reconnected with (via family) sent me her thoughts on some places around town. She briefly recapped her feelings on Craft, Spice Market, Ray’s on the River, and Neo at the Mansion. Names have been changed to protect the innocent! 🙂
Craft: I have been once for lunch and twice for dinner. I like it very much, but my husband Simon (who has only been once) will not go back. It is pretty good food and I think, fun people watching.

Spice Market: I have been once. Food was good but nothing unusual. I do not like the space. I call it the cold, cheap, contemporary look. Formica and stainless tables.

Ray’s on the River: The first year [Buddha aside: that was approx 1986], it was pretty good, but downhill after that. Well — they bought the real estate and Ray finally spent the money for a much needed slick remodel. Simon and I went for lunch last week. I had not been there in 20 years and was curious. It was so nice on the river – the view is as good as Canoe. The food is typical high quality steak and seafood house. I would not go back for dinner, but it sure is a pretty place on a sunny day.

Neo: I have been several times and love the dining room. The linens, china and flatware are beautiful. The food disappoints, but I keep trying. I LOVE the bar – good people watching there also and house made potato chips are so-o-o good with a martini. You can also have a light lunch in the bar. We have done that.
