According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, LowCountry Barbeque has closed their restaurant in Suwanee. I must say, I’m pretty bummed despite the fact that I never ate their. I am admittedly not the biggest barbeque fan. Even so, though I spent my high school years in Memphis, TN, I have always preferred the vinegar based flavors of Carolina barbeque.
LowCountry is a proprietor of said style, and for that reason I’m bummed. Though their website gives no indication of the closure, Bennett Brown, president of LowCountry Barbecue Restaurant, said:
“Despite our efforts and loyal customer base, we were not able to make ends meet during this difficult time. Our efforts will now be focused on our 24 year old catering business.”
Thank goodness that their catering business isn’t going anywhere. Last year, we threw an engagement party for some dear friends of mine. LowCountry provided the food and everyone was… as they say… happy as a pig in you know what 🙂
