Just a quick little “coming soon” post. The Porch at Collier is a new restaurant set to open at 1201 Collier Rd. The free standing building was last home to Hong Li and sits near a Figo outpost on the borders of Cross Creek and Underwood Hills. Originally slated to open in August, the date floated is mid-September. It is apparently an “upscale neighborhood restaurant and bar.” Beyond that, I have no idea who is behind the restaurant or anything else for that matter.
I heard it’s the same people that own depalma’s right there on Collier/Defoor’s.
Also, have you tried the MEATBALL BAR at Figo??!! I was lucky enough to attend a media event there, and they were so amazing. Really, you should try them.
I have totally sworn off Figo after about a billion (at least 4) abysmal experiences….but I’d break rules for meatballs, if you say so.
Ahh Jimmy – your humor and wit is unmatched! @Saucy – let me dissuade you as that is simply a very adept piece of dry and comedic sarcasm.
wow i tried out porch not expecting much and i was really shocked. The bartender cant remember his name made me a lemonade drink and suggested the great trout dip and then the lamb sliders were awesome it was abit crowded but i loved the decor. maybe next time ill sit on the roof
Come and see me and I’ll tell you about the Porch, I’ll give you the tour;) Grand opening is September 28th Chef Ryan Stewart from the Glenwood is our chef, he’s come up with a great menu.
Mandy, F and B manager
Are you guys hiring?
Already staffed but you can fill an app for later.
I stopped by yesterday, hoping for a tour! The girl who was walking out the door (obviously in a hurry) told me that you open tomorrow, but she missed the training session on friendliness. Will check it out – welcome to the neighborhood!
Hi Meredith, so sorry if anyone was not friendly, I will look into it. The final day before opening is extremely stressful and busy as I’m sure you can appreciate but being friendly is one of our top priorities. Hope to see you back in soon.
Mandy are u open for lunch now?

Figo Collier is The Original, Not an outpost
Thanks for the note Kris. The original location can be considered an outpost as most any location of any restaurant can be considered such. In other words, the term outpost has no bearing on temporal issues.
Thanks for clarifying Kris. Keep the place running smooth while Im gone.
We want to welcome you to the neighborhood. We will be coming by to check the place out.
Was looking
forward to the opening of the porch only to be disappointed by their no smoking
policy outside on their deck. Then to add insult to injury the server
was very rude in exercising their policy and it was suggested to me that I
smoke in the parking lot. I might add
all three tables on the deck at that time wanted to smoke. We paid check and departed. Not sure If we will return to try food.
For non-smokers, it only takes one cigarette inside (or outside if the breeze is in the wrong direction) to spoil a meal. I commend The Porch for having a place that everyone, even children, can enjoy. It’s too bad you couldn’t hold off on the smoking to enjoy the great food.
Smoking is so yesterday, not to mention nasty to the people that are forced to breath it in. Do us all a favor and get a patch. All of Florida and many states to follow are no smoking, the Porch is just being progressive.
hey i know its kinda tuff with the non smoking rule . we now allow smoking on the lower deck. If a server was rude i apologise the last thing any of us working is to come off rude . We all know the only way were gonna make money is thru you guys liking r joint and coming back. Come in on sunday monday or wensday tim and sit at the bar and ill make sure you have the best time.(just ask for horace)
The Porch at Collier is a really nice upscale restaurant and bar and is giving the area a much needed new place to gather with their friends. The food is really very good too. Everyone needs to support them so they will be around for us. So many places come and go! Remember your first job when you had to be trained and then became comfortable in what you were doing, so do the people at the Porch. It is a new place and it will get better each day as the people working there become comfortable with their customers. Give them a chance! As for the smoking, thank goodness they do not allow it. I am so tired of going in some of the places around the area and it looks like a fire is happening inside with all the smoke! Thank you owners for standing your ground on that issue.
The restaurant has couch area, dining room, bar and rooftop patio with best view. We had wonderful lunch. We will be back for dinner. The couch area is a good place to hang out with friends.
2 lunches and one dinner later, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Unlike so many places where the country pâté looks and taste like spam, the Porch’s pâté is every bit like something I would be treated to in France. My friend who ordered the goat cheese soufflé as a hors d’œuvre pronounced it delectable. The sea scallops the 3 of us ordered as an entree were scrumptious, and our waiter (Charley) bent over backwards for us. I cannot wait to get back to the Porch either for lunch or dinner–preferably both!
