As many people know [because of this blog … right??? :-)], Leon’s Full Service in Decatur auctioned off the first pint served at the restaurant. The charitable event raised $2,650! That is impressive.
However, recent news out of London puts that to shame. Woolworths (wiki), that now collapsed retail chain, elected to auction off their last bag of pic’n’mix (wiki) for a charitable cause. The auction closed at £14,500 (roughly $20,700)! That’s a lotta dough for such a small amount of candy.
The auction was conducted on eBay and the winning bidder had private feedback; I sure hope this sale goes through.
