Though I have never ventured up to Buford for a meal at Sperata, I have confirmed that they are adding a new restaurant to the family. In a dramatic thumbs up to the financial struggles of the times, co-owner and head chef Chris Hope has decided to open Sperata On The Square in downtown Lawrenceville. The new restaurant is slated to open on Monday, February 16, 2009. Details after the jump!
The new Sperata will offer “French style cuisine … in the manner of a high class grill.” Apparently, the price point for entrees is sub-$25; however, Hope intends to bring a number of the menu items with him from their Buford restaurant.
Much of the information I have gleaned about Hope is from the Sperata website. However, the restaurant has been open five years and is one of two restaurants run by Hope and his wife. Sperata has won several awards and has been named one of the more romantic spots in the Gwinnett area. For those of you up that way, it may be worth checking out this weekend.
Initially, Sperata On The Square will only be open during lunch hours. Chef Hope “hopes” to offer dinner and bar hours by the end of the month. For all of you wordsmiths out there – Sperata means “Hope” in Greek. Nice touch.
The restaurant information has been added to the February Dirty List.
